Two weeks ago, we attended the Gamesforum conference in Seattle, swapping notes with other gaming industry professionals on the current marketing and business buzz – from UA and ASO to ad monetization and the latest online trends.

Our very own Chris Brownridge gave a talk on leveraging AI in video production and showcased some of the cool AI tools we use at Flixr.

But enough about us! Here's what we really want to share – our biggest learnings from the Gamesforum conference:

1) User-Generated Content is King!

UGC isn't just a leading creative trend – it's the zeitgeist of our digital era. It’s expected to grow even more by the end of the year and into 2024.

This aligns perfectly with our focus on producing UGC video creatives for clients, working with creators, influencers, and actors from all over the world.

2) UGC = Relatability

People are tired of glossy, high-budget ads. What grabs them are stories they can relate to.

UGC thrives on being raw and real, reshaping the ad landscape by showcasing authentic stories that resonate on a personal level. The takeaway for advertisers? Create ads that don’t look like ads.

3) Interrupt the Pattern; Stop the Scroll

“Scroll stopping” and “pattern interruption” were hot topics at the conference. Capturing your audience’s attention in the first 3-4 seconds is crucial.

Winning UGC starts with a hook that captivates instantly – think unexpected sounds, snappy transitions, vibrant locales, or relatable faces that break the scroll trance.

4) Test, Test, Test. And Then Test Some More

Our belief in the power of testing and iteration was reinforced. Honing the ultimate user experience isn’t about intuition – it’s about informed iteration!

By tweaking elements like hooks, locations, tone, actor attributes, CTAs, and end-cards, and then analyzing performance, you can discover what resonates with your audience and refine your strategy accordingly.

5) AI is 🔥HOT🔥

AI is becoming increasingly integral to personal and professional life. While some companies avoid AI due to policy restrictions, one thing is certain – AI isn’t going anywhere.
