Moburst alternatives for mobile game marketing: who to call, and when

What Moburst offers mobile games, why game teams look elsewhere, and four alternatives compared on focus, UA, playables, ASO and creative volume.

TL;DR. Moburst is a full-service, mobile-first marketing agency founded in 2013, strongest on ASO, social and search buying, and range. Mobile game teams tend to look elsewhere when they want a games-only partner, in-house UA creative at volume (including playables), or creative built for the ad networks rather than social feeds. The game-focused options worth a call are AppAgent (strategy first, then UA and creative), Udonis (game UA plus creative production), Apptamin (video and trailers only) and Flixr (media plus in-house creative on AppLovin, Meta and TikTok). Pick by the gap you are filling.

Disclosure: Flixr wrote this page and is one of the options in it. Every description of another company comes from its own website, read in November 2026, and what they claim is quoted as their claim.

What Moburst is, and what it is good at

Moburst describes itself as "a digital full-service, mobile-first marketing agency." Its history page says it was "Founded in 2013 by Gilad Bechar and Lior Eldan" and lists offices in New York, San Francisco, Miami, Orlando, Denver, London and Tel Aviv.

Range is the point. The homepage advertises "29 Specialized Service Units. One Integrated Growth System." Its app marketing page says: "From App Store Optimization (ASO) and user acquisition to product strategy, creative, and BI - we execute it all, in-house, with full alignment."

Where it is strong, on its own account:

  • ASO. Many of the case studies on its homepage are ASO or organic growth stories. Its one games-adjacent case, gameit (which the case page calls "a trivia app"), was "a unique search optimization strategy" built on App Store keyword research and A/B tested creative.
  • Social and search buying. "We have unique relationships such as Premier Google Partners, FB partners and a TikTok Key Agency."
  • Programmatic. "We run programmatic campaigns across premium networks."
  • Recognition. It reports winning the Mobile Marketing Association's Smarties X Global Award as "Digital Agency of the Year."

It says it has "driven success for Fortune 500 companies and leaders in mobile gaming alike." We did not find a page on moburst.com dedicated to game marketing, and the creative services it lists (concept and design, video production, social media management, app store assets, creator network, UGC) do not include playable ads.

Our read: if you want one agency to own ASO, social, search, PR and the website for an app, that breadth is a real advantage. The reasons to look elsewhere are specific to how mobile games buy users.

Why a mobile game team might look for an alternative

Decision criteria, not complaints:

  1. Games-only focus. Game UA has its own genre benchmarks, soft-launch logic and creative conventions. Some teams want a partner whose whole book is games.
  2. In-house creative volume. In our experience the ad networks are limited by creative supply, so ask how many finished ads a partner makes a month (more in how many creatives you need for AppLovin).
  3. Playables and end cards. If playables are in your mix, you need a partner who builds them or a separate studio. See playable ad studios compared.
  4. AppLovin-specific creative. Fullscreen, sound-off placements reward different cuts from social feeds. Our AppLovin creative guide has the rules.
  5. ASO-led or UA-led. If store conversion is your main lever, an ASO-strong generalist fits. If paid UA is, weight UA and creative.
  6. Team size. A small studio may want one partner for everything. A publisher with its own UA team may only want production.

Each cell reflects what that company states on its own site. "Not listed" means we did not find it, not proof they never do it. Ask.

AppAgent

What it is. "A self-funded mobile growth and creative agency founded in 2016," which adds: "While we've worked with almost every app store category, we focus on gaming." It describes "A team of 40 strategists, user acquisition managers, data analysts, and designers." Three programs: Growth (UA "across Meta, Google, TikTok, AppLovin, Apple Search Ads, and new emerging channels", ASO, analytics), Creative ("Original video ads, gameplay creatives, playable ads, UGC, and hook development") and Revenue (ad monetization and in-app pricing).

Best for. A studio that wants strategy, UA and creative connected, from soft launch to legacy titles. Our view: the monetization program is a useful extra if your margins depend on it.

Limitation. Engagements begin with GamePlan, "a strategic diagnostic that audits your game across user acquisition, ASO, creative, data, product, retention, and monetization." If you only need ads made next week, that is a longer front door than you need.

Udonis

What it is. Udonis "was founded in 2015" and chose "a niche in 2018. That niche was the booming mobile game market." Its work covers "creatives, media buying, analytics, and ongoing optimization," and it claims "$500+ million in mobile game user acquisition and creative budgets managed." Its creative page lists scripted, gameplay and UGC video, playable ads, ASO and creative testing.

Best for. A game team handing off both UA management and creative production to a games specialist.

Limitation. Udonis says plainly that the winning creative "is nearly impossible to find in the first few batches." Honest, and it means the fit is a sustained engagement, not a one-off batch.

Apptamin

What it is. "THE APP VIDEO AGENCY" for "startups and game studios." Its game studios page lists game trailers, monthly UA creatives and statics, in 2D and 3D animation, live action and VFX, UGC and Unity and Unreal, plus localization. Its main base is Montpellier, France, with team members in Hong Kong and New York.

Best for. A publisher with its own UA team that needs trailers, store videos and polished video ads.

Limitation. Its site sells creative production. We did not find media buying or playables described, so you would run campaigns yourself or with another partner.

Flixr

What it is. A performance marketing agency for apps, games and commercial brands that makes its own creative. We run and read paid media on AppLovin, Meta and TikTok, put a creative lead inside the client's ad account, and make the UGC and creator video, playables, end cards and landing pages. Flixr Studio, our own tool, tracks every ad running in a category on those three networks and how long each one lasted.

Best for. Game teams whose constraint is creative supply on the networks, who want media and ads judged on the client's own numbers.

Limitation. ASO and PR are not among the services we list. If store optimization or a broad service mix is the main need, Moburst or AppAgent fits better.

Who we left out, and why

Gamelight calls itself a "UA Platform for Mobile Games" with "Rewarded User Acquisition" and a "Self-Serve Dashboard." Liftoff calls itself "The Leading Growth Acceleration Platform for the Mobile Industry." Both are channels you buy through, not agencies that run your marketing. We could not find a mobile game agency called Lunar Mobile.

How to choose

Name the one thing you most need. ASO plus a broad marketing mix: Moburst is a strong choice and you may not need an alternative. Games-native strategy across UA, creative and monetization: AppAgent. Outsourced UA with creative attached: Udonis. Video only: Apptamin. Creative volume, playables and media on AppLovin, Meta and TikTok: that is what we do. For a wider field, see the best performance creative agencies for apps and games and the best UGC agencies for mobile games.

Questions people ask

Is Moburst good for mobile games? It is a strong mobile-first generalist with deep ASO and social and search buying, and says it has worked with leaders in mobile gaming. It does not publish a games-specific practice or list playables, so ask directly if you need those.

What is the best Moburst alternative for mobile game UA? For a games-only partner, AppAgent and Udonis both publish full game practices. AppAgent leads with a strategy diagnostic; Udonis with UA management and creative production.

Which of these make playable ads? On their own sites, AppAgent, Udonis and Flixr list playables. Moburst and Apptamin do not.

Are Liftoff or Gamelight alternatives to Moburst? Not directly. Both are platforms you buy media through; an agency runs campaigns on channels like them.
